With 14 intercollegiate athletic teams, Academy of Art University competes at the Division II level, and is a member of the Pacific West Conference. On July 10th, 2009 Academy of Art University became the only four-year art institution in the NCAA after being accepted into its membership process. Academy of Art University began a two-year candidacy period on September 1. Prospective NCAA members must complete at least one year of provisional status before being accepted as full-time Division II members, meaning Academy of Art University could become an active Division II member by fall 2012.
Academy of Art University’s men’s sports include: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and track and field. Women compete in basketball, cross country, golf, softball, soccer, tennis, track and field, and volleyball.

How Can Students Tryout?
Many of the teams offer open tryouts. Check with the coaching staff for information. A prospective athlete must have a physical examination, provide documentation of medical insurance, and apply to the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse.
How Can Fans Get Involved?
Free transportation to home events and pre-game tailgates are a benefit to our Knight Club members. For a yearly fee of twenty dollars, Knight Club members get a free t-shirt, free transportation to home games, free tailgate (food/drinks), and the opportunity to win prizes at different events.
